According to Victoria Gill, Science reporter of BBC News - "A compulsion for sweets is a well-known part of childhood, and research could have now explained why children love sugar quite so much."
The study, carried out in the US, found a direct link between children's growth and their preference for sugary drinks. It showed that youngsters who preferred the sweetest drinks were the ones that were growing the fastest. Researchers from the University of Washington and Monell Chemical Senses Center collaborated on the work.
Yes, moms never wanted to load kids with sugar, my youngest daughter is a certified sweet addict - now I understand why, since children appear to love sugar more when they are growing faster. Recently I resolved this issue with my daughter using granulated xylitol, looks like sugar, tastes like sugar, and the best thing that makes me smile :)) it reduces cavity-causing bacteria, plaque and plaque acids.
Doing my personal research with the passion to resolve my daughter's compulsion for sweets - I tried all means to get hold of pure 100% xylitol. Frustrated when I found out it's only available in candy mints, reading the fine print it is mixed with aspartame, sorbitol, and other sucrose derivative that causes cavities... it's like wearing a statement shirt without the heart for it.
Why not 100% pure xylitol? Here’s the thing - they’ll never fully load their products with the necessary percentage (5g to 8g/day) because it’s too expensive! mmm-hmm.. If you’re a company who wants to help someone fight cavities you’ve got to be willing to cut into your profit margins a bit. Right Moms?
So, why am I passionate about xylitol? Answer: It's delicious! It's all natural, and it happens to be an effective tool for everyone’s oral health care regimen!
